Date: Mon, 11 Nov 2002 09:11:45 -0800 Subject: PUPT: Axtell Puppets Hi Peter, Our puppets are made from latex which gives flexibility and allows you to have the cool sculptured look. They should last from 4-10 years or more depending on the care. The puppets when brand new come with a coating of Armor All on them. This is a preservative and has UV protectant in it which really helps it last longer. Keep applying this every 3 months or so. Over time with constant exposure to the sun, over the years natural latex will eventually break down and get sticky (sometimes referred to as melting). It's not like candle wax where at a certain temperature they actually melt no mater what the climate. We have people all over the world using our products, Australia (Taylor's Magic sells them), Philippines, Mexico....very hot climates. You can also store them in a bag out of the sun for even more protection, but for the low price, many choose to display them on stands when they are not in use. There are many collectors who have them all over their homes. We have developed a great latex formula that lasts much longer than latex from 10 years ago, and we continue to develop it with synthetic additives etc. Our main selling point with our rubber puppets is that audiences just go wild when they see our characters. The flexibility in the latex allows for stretching facial expressions. Professional performers who start with one, usually end up with 5 or more because of the reaction they get. Foam wears, wood splits, fabric tears and latex melts. When it happens, we offer head replacements at very reasonable prices. You don't have to purchase a complete replacement puppet. Axtell puppets are worth their weight in gold. Not to discount any other type of puppet out there at all (except POP). Each has it's place in the art of puppetry. Hope this helps.
