Subject: What Would Mohammed Think?: salon interview with islam "expert"


curious to know what members of the list think of the below salon interview with author Geraldine Brooks, an "expert on the role of women in Islam"?  she comments on the riots in nigeria surrounding the miss world contest, amongst other topics.  this is from a pretty mainstream western publication, not an academic journal (in response to responses to margaret's response) and at least offers a little more context than rushdie's editorial in the nyt:
