Subject: Columbia U. Press looking for survey of recent Caribbean


Columbia University Press is looking for some to write a survey of 
recent Caribbean literature for their series: "The Columbia Guides to 
Post World War II Literature."

Here is their statement on the series as a whole:

THE COLUMBIA GUIDES TO POST WORLD WAR II LITERATURE

The books will be hardback books of at least 320 printed (not 
manuscript) pages, selling for at least $40.00 in the library market 
(high school, public, and college libraries)

Each book of at least 100,000 to 120,000 words will be structured as follows:
1.  Narrative overview of 15,000 to 25,000 words (60 to 100 
manuscript pages, double spaced) arranged either by genre or by topic 
or chronologically, with cross-references to the following A to Z 
section.  A full annotated bibliography of 10,000 words (40 
double-spaced manuscript pages) on the broad topic of the book ends 
this section.
2.  Short A to Z descriptive articles on individual authors and 
important works, relevant events, and issues (30,000 to 35,000 words, 
or 120 to 140 manuscript pages, each article averaging 150 to 500 
words, or half a manuscript page to one and a half manuscript pages). 
Each entry will have an annotated bibliography, and the combined 
length of the annotated bibliographies will be 30,000 words (120 
manuscript pages).  If an individual work is important enough to have 
and entry on its own, its annotated bibliography will include only 
critical works on that work.  Other works by individual authors will 
be included in the annotated bibliographies of their authors.  Other 
works in such bibliographies will include major critical works on the 
authors, biographies of the authors, autobiographies by them, 
bibliographies of them, and all other works useful for the 
appreciation and study of the authors.  The term "bibliography" 
throughout the above includes all resources in print and electronic 
form.
