Subject: book suggestions?


Dear List,

I'm teaching a freshman comp and lit class in the fall, and would like to
know if anyone might have text sugeestions.  The anthologies that I've seen
containing short fiction, essays, and short poetry are not terribly
inclusive--mostly American, British and male.  Could anyone suggest an
alternative collection of such short works that would include the many
other writers writing in English or translated?
