Two points- If the West thought Iraq is going to contritely submit after
the Gulf war, they have another think coming. Having provided a public
relations boost for politicians such as Mr.Bush, the whole conflict will
probably turn around and bite them early in the next century, if not
earlier. Sadly, many devious politicians feed off outside threats. Mr.Bush
made out Saddam Husein as the incarnate devil to gain points witin the US;
Now Saddam is more popular than ever within Iraq, because he opposes the
economic tactics imposed by the UN, under pressure from the US. Khaddafi
in Libya has a similar relationship with American foreign policy.
Second point- The discussion developing between Tom and Saul is
interesting, because it asks, What is theory and method? How do we think
about things? How do we formulate questions? What do we *miss* or leave
when we ask, and answer a particular question?
