Subject: Lutte Ouvriere

The name of the organisation is Lutte ouvriere? with an e on the end of the
second word, and an accent on the first e in the second word. The meaning is not
at all fighting worker, but Workers' Struggle. Ouvriere is an adjective.
Compare mouvement ouvrier : workers movement, parti ouvrier workers'
party etc.
To get back to politics they are having quite a rough time at the moment.
They got a million and a half votes in the elections last year, and put out a
call to create a "big workers' party" in which, it seemed the revolutionaries
would be a minority. But they went about this by going round the country in
caravans talking to people, saying "If one in a thousand of our voters wants to
join us ..." Of course, this is nursery school marxism and unfortunately didn't
work. Now they have abandoned the big centrist party idea, saying that they
never meant it , it was only a propaganda call, and arehaving problems keeping
some of their members who took it seriously
