Look, Rahul, give us a break here. I have yet to see anyone call for academic
retribution against Sokal, or anyone call into question his political
allegiances. (I, for one, am pretty much prepared to accept at face value a
self-description of leftist in a society where where there is little or no
social advantage for being so.) All that I see is an attempt to make him into
a martyr for the cause of science, a modern day Galileo, by constructing out
of thin air some literary "(witch) doctors' plot" to get him. Fantasize all
you want, but some of us still hold to a distinction between the real and the
imaginary. (Couldn't resist that one.)
