Subject: crisis, social change, Chaco and Mesa Verde

BTW, Adam, one of my general points and a reason why I added the Mesa
Verde story, is that I see no reason to think that the end of every
culture must be caused by a social crisis. Mesa Verde is a clearer
example of how there may be no social solution to an environmental/
food supply problem.

I think it is more likely [and materialist / marxian] to expect that
social "crisis" [whatever that is] would be one of the _results_ of
infrastructural/ production/ distribution problems.

Possible solutions and actual activities and outcomes may also vary
between cases, so some specific data might be required to know what
actually happened in any one case.

I'm generally opposed to any approach that assumes one blanket answer
for all situations and societies. Or any answer at all that seem
insufficiently supported
