Michael,

How would you characterize the involvement of the perceiver in the 
process Heidegger is describing here?   I'm especially wondering 
about "vermeinendes" .  In the German above, isn't it more closely 
"absorbed" into the ambiguities of how the intentional character of 
the logos is taken?  It seems to me, in all the apologetic pretense 
of a non_German-speaker, that translating "vermeinendes" as 
"perceiving" too definitively locates the medium, being suggested 
here in perception, thereby allowing too easy a passage to " the 
involvement of the perceiver."  Complicating the inmvolvement of the 
perceiver, in this context,  is the fact that Heidegger  seems to be 
insisting on the "purity" of the intentional character of the logos, 
keeping it "free" from the possibility of pseudos.

I'm needing to run, and am concerned I have not made myself clear.  I 
hope I can get back to this soon.  I'm fascinated by the connected 
ambiguites of intentionality and apophansis
