thanks for correcting my "pigeon English" (I knew only the  "oral" version
of this expression!, yes it is really Joycean, but what does "pitching
English" mean at all?!)
Michael, the chasm that separates us from each other is not of the same kind
as the one that separates us from animals (as well as from non-living
things). And the other way round: what makes possible at all that we can _be
together_ is not the same as what makes possible that we can _be together_
with things (and, in a different way, with (different kinds of) animals or
other living beings). I think that as we are also a living being and an
_animal_ and part of non-living nature too there are _intersections_ of
being (to which H. refers in GA 29/30) as there are intersections, say,
between plants and animals in their being. But, of course, just looking to a
simple (non living) thing, say a car, can (!) be as astonishing (although
otherwise) as looking at the eyes of, say, a dog, as far as its being there
(why is it there (why I am there) anything and not nothing...). Because we
are able to grasp the multitude of existing beings in their plurality and as
such (!) (cf. GA 26, p. 175) we are able to (on a temporal _basis_) to
_transcend_ beings as beings. But you are right,  if you read GA 29/30, the
question of metaphysical isolation (Vereinzelung, together with the
questions: what is world? what is finitude?) is central, it concerns the
question of time (p. 257) and the question of the _thin line_ (duenne Linie,
GA 29/30, p. 257) between cool (!) (nuechtern, p. 258) philosophic
(conceptual) questioning and _doing_ (das einzelne Handeln, p. 257). What H.
says about _fundamental_ differences between the opennes(sses) of animals
and of (human) existence (Dasein) as well as of the kind of _intersection_
(Versetztsein, GA 29/30, p. 403) between these is highly inspirative, at
least to me...

I like the Joycean rendering of "pigeon English".
"...which doesn't mean that life (of animals) is inferior to human existence
or
on a lower level. Rather, life is a region which has a richness of openness
in a
way which perhaps the human world knows nothing of."

One meaning of "metaphysical isolation" (cf. GA26) is the chasm that
separates
us from the animals, the chasm we look into when looking into a dog's eyes,
for
example, and imagine how we somehow 'understand' each other.
