This points to one of the reasons I disagree with a provisional formula
Gary tossed out a year or so ago. It went something like, "Religion bad.
Spirituality good."

Religious orders are just that, _religious_ orders, and there is an
intelligible relationship between their religious principles and their
social practices. Thus we can talk (argue) about both the principles and
the practice. That is why, though I am opposed to religion, I respect it
in a way in which I do not respect nebulous references to human
spirituality.
