Is this forgiveness a mode of charity or of letting-go?  Does one give away 
that which is surplus or does forgiveness lead toward potlatch?  Do you mean 
to sound so liberal-humanist or am I not reading carefully?  Who the hell are 
you to forgive a damn thing?  "I can't punish you to my satisfaction 
therefore I forgive you."  Your innocence disturbs me . . . shall I forgive 
you?
