Subject: AUT: intellectual division of labour
This is a bit difficult for me to explain, but I'm
going to try anyways:
3 years ago, I took biology in high school, and 2
years ago I took chemistry. I found it so damn boring,
uninteresting etc (eg I had to memorize the body parts
of a pig in biology). I barely passed both courses (I
got a 60 in Biology, and low 50s in Chem)
Many people do have preferences for different
subjects. However, I think that the way subjects are
taught (behaviorism) is in many respects why people
*dislike* certain subjects. As well, the fact that
knowledge that is being taught is for exchange value
rather than for use value probably also explains why
people dislike certain subjects.
Do you think in a post-capitalist society, people
would not dislike certain intellectual endeavors as
they do under capitalism? The abolition of the
Intellectual division of labour, would that mean that
people would like all forms of knowledge?
If we look at this list, for example, it does seem
that many people on it do seem to be equally
comfortable in the "natural sciences" as they are in
the "social sciences"
