In a word, 'no'. For Marx, the lumpenproletariat were all of the full-time
hustlers, pimps, mountebanks, charlatans, etc. The criminal underworld,
full-time gangsters, would be modern additions. I am not sure how I feel
about the whole term, however. I'm not sure it helps much, although it is
funny that the professional criminal world should be its own class under
capital. I prefer to think of pimps as petty bourgeois exploiters of
women's sexual labor, personally rather than try to use the somewhat
moralistic category of lumpenproletariat.

Cheers to you Michael,
Chris
