Harald,

Ok, bad phrasing.  I did not mean that such states did not exist, but that
many of the liberals and radical nationalists  take a backward-looking view
which tends to idealize the Wlefare Nation State as somehow 'more ours', in
a kind of 'reclaiming democracy' politics.  I did not mean that some
positive gains that were institutionalized into the welfare state neither
existed nor were lost.
