Well, Sprout, we have a saying amonst the Goaters, "Keep doing what you're
doing and you will keep getting what you're getting."

I wager that the real reason is that the folk in the power seats tend toward
being slow learners and fast forgetters--which makes them what? Human?

The loss of moral focus is concomitant with the acquisition of power. (See
Sir John Emerich Edward Dalberg Acton's letter to Bishop Mandell
Creighton--in part: "The danger is not that a particular class is unfit to
govern. Every class is unfit to govern...Power tends to corrupt, and
absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men.")
Anyone who expects any different is--if not a fool--extremely foolish in his
expectations..

As I would not be a slave, neither would I be a master. (I am already
corrupt enow without gilding the lily.) The onliest thing that ever
surprises me is that ANYONE is ever surprised at the depradations of the
powerful. Outrage is understandable--surprise is stupid. Governments are
run by liars; don't believe owt they say, Bubba.

As to the subjet (Berg) at hand, ledgerdemain, simply misdirection and the
Devil take the hindmost. We homos of questionable sapience are a race of
killers and, whether or not the utopians amongst us like the idee, a
constricting society is the onliest force that keeps the majority (all but
the most feral) of us at bay. Berg got too close to the edge of the herd
and got thinned. You don't want killed, stay away from the killers.

Hell, it's spring and the saps runneth.

Goat-footed Balloon Man, whistling far and wee.
