shit goat, since when have we started telling the fucking truth on this list? nobody told me.

we're all sitting nearer the exit than we probably realize, and yeah it causes a fellow to sit and ponder a bit. that's why i always look back on our old buddies the ancient geeks. for those who are absorbed by their own self-importance we have classical TRAGEDY (you know, pork a close relative, put out your eyes, wander the earth, etc. yada yada yada), but the real zingers are the COMEDIES that allow us a good belly laugh at our puny pretensions.

i agree, goat. gives an old fart a sense of peace. any species that sees itself so very clearly can't be all bad.

I have found that the closer I get to the downstage left exit the less claim the stage scenery has on me. All the stuff I once thought important / significant probably really isn't. Of late the Queen and I have been afflicted with cancer and heart disease, respectively, and although neither of us is at the end we can certainly see it from where we are. You'd think this would make a fella / gal sort of hinkey -- but quite the contrary. It has a rather calming effect and a certain sense of freedom ensues. When me ma died in January she gave us a good lesson in how it's done; having her here at home was a real revelation. The message is: "Don't worry, when the time is nigh you will let go; but don't quit too soon, you might miss something important." (And don't worry about the hypocrisy -- it's highly overrated.)

  Regards,
  goat
