Subject: Re: [Puptcrit] animation programs

Hi Mark,

On the subject of animation programs, I think Michael has given some great
advice, but I think you should specify exactly what kind of animation you're
looking to produce. 'Flash' is good, but it's designed mostly for web use.
It is used for basic 2D animation, often which has elements of programming
in. You can use it for cell animation but it is not a very nice program to
draw in. For cell animation I would recommend 'Bauhaus Mirage'. Then there
is 3D animation - there are many programs out there, the students at my uni
used 'Autodesk 3DS Max'.
I would suggest you do a bit of research online. Wikipedia is very helpful,
it has details of lots of programs and what they are capable of. It also
lists many FREE programs online, many of which are very capable.

Hope this helps,

Katy
