I know it now, but a few years ago, while I was giving a styrofoam and paper mache puppet making workshop, a few minutes after warning a student about the dangers of craft knives, I sliced my thigh quite deeply, when my knife went further than planned. What a bloody mess. Thankfully, the student wasn't affraid of blood, and I'm not one to panic about such trifles (I operated on myself a few times in the past). I rinsed and taped the wound shut, and got back to the workshop. It healed quite fast. Since then, I wear an apron when I work messy stuff and use "knify" tools. I might get or make myself a leather or rubber apron for wood carving. Then again, I might just develop the proper discipline to never need such "crutches". Again, I look up to Bali mask carvers, who seem to do it so easily, and so boldly, without protection. _______________________________________________ List address: puptcrit-AT-puptcrit.org Admin interface: http://lists.puptcrit.org/mailman/listinfo/puptcrit Archives: http://www.driftline.org
