Subject: Re: [Puptcrit] LEDs

On the short film I just worked on, we needed to use LED to simulate smaller
lightbulbs, to make them to scale.

The dimming we needed was not achieved, even with a lot of resistors, the
"dimming" was rather done in steps, not a true dimming. Indeed, we should
have looked into other types of LED.

Fortunately, dimming was less important than the effect of flashing due to
electrical powerloss.
We were told to just touch the wires together on and off for that effect.
It worked like a charm.
The power supply was an adaptor that was plugged in to the wall.
We had the proper instructions and supplies straight from the most
recognised electronics store in Montreal (Addison).

I'm guessing it would work for lightning effects. And it could be done more
practical and safely by adding a device similar to a morse code trigger,
instead of touching the wires.
