Subject: Re: [Puptcrit] Sculpting Pine Wood?

Thanks a lot, David, for the detailed advice.
I didn't know Poplar and Basswood were related.
Which of the two do you prefer, or are both useful for different
applications?
I can get Poplar around here, at least I've seen it in dowels from the USA.

I do know a lumber dealer not far from where I live. I never asked about
poplar or Basswood there.
I defenitely will now, since I have a specific project for it, and that you
gys have convinced me to let og of pine and go straight to Linden...

I have been convinced for a while (4 years) that I want one of those band
saws.
Instead of just being hopeful to get one someday, I'm actively working
toward getting one.
I feel it's necessary in my technical evolution. I,ve worked with those
before, but I need to have them at my disposal at all times, for
efficiency's sake. Doing tongue and groove articulations without those is a
painstaking endeavour. So is making controllers (which I make with saws,
ex-acto, and files)!

Working with the files, gouges and small powertools will surely be
beneficial in my progress, until I can get the time-saving,
precision-enabling machines (band saw and belt sander).
