Subject: [Puptcrit] On the Road


I had a GPS unit foisted upon me by Hertz during a recent visit to 
Minneapolis, and I had a lot of problems with it.   Once it set me driving in circles 
around a block.   Once it landed me in a railroad yard when I was trying to get 
to Bedlam Theater.   And even when it worked, it tended to take me the long 
way round.   So, like with mapquest, I would double-check the route before you 
go.

I'm a huge fan of audiobooks, and have gone though the formats, from tapes to 
CDs to digital.   I now have an iPod dock in my car, so I download books 
directly from audible.com and stick them on my iPod.   I also stockpile podcasts 
of radio shows, which you can subscribe to for free from iTunes.   My favorites 
are: This American Life, Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, Radiolab, and Talk of the 
Nation Science Friday.   And I have playlists of songs I need to learn for my 
current shows, so I can rehearse in the car!
