I'm a puppeteer and an Equity member who's worked at Disney World, but  
only as a (non-puppeteering) actor/singer. There was certainly a big  
difference between the compensation for "characters" and "actors" at  
Disney World when I was there, despite a huge amount of overlap in job  
description. And considering that "face characters" like Snow White  
talk and interact with the crowds, the distinctions really vanish. I  
always wished the character department would move under Equity's  
jurisdiction, but I'm sure Disney would view it as cost-prohibitive!
