It's not too late to participate in the Puppet Collaboration. If you can't commit just now but manage to do all the steps of First Round by the deadline, you're in. To the participants: 53 days left to make the whole project. I suggest the following deadlines. If most think each step is too long, then we can shorten them. For once, we can be flexible! I strongly encourage people to document (photos, scans) their steps, especially if they come up with more body parts than necessary, or more than one interesting design. These extras could be shared immediately with Puptcritters, to keep them interested. First Round: Drawing body parts and sending to Mathieu. A simpler drawing style (cartoon-like) would be better for clarity. Avoid complex textures, simplify when needed. Writing random part request list (list and assigned participant numbers to come later tonight). Send completed list to Mathieu, who will distribute the selected parts to each participants at the most the day after the deadline. Deadline: Wednesday December 17th. Second Round: Using received parts, create a character. You can scale the parts down or up. You can redraw the whole character by hand, or use a drawing software. If using a drawing software, try to keep each element in separate layers for ease of modification for next round. Send cleaned-up characters to Mathieu. Deadline: December 22 Third Round: Mathieu sends each character to another participant, so that they can be re-worked. Redraw or computer modify. Send cleaned up drawing to the group (maybe using the Drop website as suggested by Branden, if it can be made "private"). Deadline: January 7th, 2009 Fourth Round: Participants reach an agreement on which character each would like to build. If a design is appealing to more than one participant, then both could build it (we'll get to see different results!) Puppet building of the chosen design. Open to any puppet type and hybrids, provided there is time and skill enough to finish this sort of puppet by the deadline. Deadline: January 31st, 2009 Presentation: On February 1st 2009, the results and process will be posted online for all to see. _______________________________________________ List address: puptcrit-AT-puptcrit.org Admin interface: http://lists.puptcrit.org/mailman/listinfo/puptcrit Archives: http://www.driftline.org
