Subject: Re: [Puptcrit] clay from paper mache

I still stand by my words about not using white petroleum jelly (vaseline)
as a release for paper mache.
I've had enough problems to warrant that decision.

I forgot to mention that even small residues of vaseline on the paper will
prevent proper and true adhesion of more layers. And since I add layers
inside the cast whenever possible, not to mention the occasional mechanics,
any greasy material is to be avoided.

Wet Paper layers are a good release, but I wish I knew how to make it a
quicker and cleaner release than it is right now for me.

What do people here prefer to use as paper for a wet paper layer?

I use a wet paper release (paper tolwels and water) for my negative plaster
molds for paper mache strips, and it works great.
Not so great on my positive oil-based clay forms.
