Mathieu, I usually spend about 4-5 weeks building a puppet/marionette, sometimes more. As for finding insignificant the experience gained with this project, either I would build a puppet for this project or one for myself, it's the same old me building it. For the last 20 years I picked and choose what materials I like best or what building technique serves my purpose.Several times, I volunteered or asked to help with meeting the deadline in the workshop of the theater back in Romania. The puppets and the sets built there were designer=92s concept, so I did what I was instructed to and working with the materials chosen by the designer in a style determined by her. Today, I'm still using papier mache for it's unbeatable qualities, still carving into polystyrene for speeding the process of making any part of a puppets body, or using knitting thread as fur, I mean a varied number of materials. I choose between different building techniques, learned from
books or discovered by myself. So, there's no arrogance in my answer, but a sincere opinion. I know my limits very well and at the moment I cannot do better. My website is under construction at the moment.Carolina

Carolina, thanks for the precisions about how you see this project.
The puppets were not necessarily to be shipped, unless the entire group
deems it important.
I do agree that to have them all in one place for some time would be
interesting, maybe a performance or an exhibit.
On top of the logistical difficulties, and much more important, is the
motivation for each participant.
I strongly believe that building a single body part per person would be less
motivating than building a whoel creature.
I'm curious about what you meant with the quote:
"I see a financial loss in this project and insignificant experience gain
for myself."
Yikes, I'd love to see your marionettes, to see what a high level of skills
and achievement it takes to be made so confident that an exercise in real
collaboration and exploration would be insignificant.
Do you have a website?
