Subject: Re: [Puptcrit] Born puppeteers

HI,
My father was a professional puppeteer, Ralph Chessé, and I am a
second generation puppeteer. That is not to say that he ever realized
it would be my occupation. He was to busy focusing on himself. When
he was in his 80's he turned to me and said, "I would never have
guessed that you would become a puppeteer". This to a someone who was
always rooting into his puppet boxes at age 4 (to his fury) and who
began working with him at age 13. I was obsessed but my father was
not a teacher. I had to learn on my own and when it came to muppet
style puppets and improvising with puppets....I had to teach him.
Born a puppeteer? I would say so. At 73 I am still teaching others
and swinging a mean puppet.
