I got to see Burr in Los Angeles and Chicago performing live for TVcasts. In L.A. it was when the Democratic National Convention was held at the Los Angeles Sports Arena near USC and the Colosseum (Spelling?). In the wee hours of the morn at the Biltmore Hotel, after leaving a small house on the grounds of the bigger Ambassador Hotel where Burr was staying) the TODAY show featured KF&O daily during the convention, I watched Burr do a run-thru assisted by Don Sahlin, then a shorter (self-edited version) live transmission to the East Coast, folowed by another live transmission to the West Coast. There was never any time to sleep, and from there I went directly to work at the Pasadena BROADWAY Dept Store. I was fully wide awake--just thinking about the talent I'd seen up close kept me awake all day, tho I sure went to bed early when I got home.

Burr's run-through was about twice the length of the finished two transmitted versions. The way he condensed everything was astonshing.

Dave Garroway hosted the program, and he had a very easy-going approach to the rest of the show. It was a good blend.
