Subject: [Puptcrit] Asking for money back

The last movie that I asked for my admission back, was 30 minutes into the picture, when the camera made rapid left and right pans between two conversationalists. A fixed-camera would not have made me sea-sick. Ordinarily the theater did not refund past 10 minutes, but the lousy camera work came past that.

I can't remember asking for a refund at a puppet show, tho I have seen some crappy shows, it was still a learning experience of what NOT to do.

Sometimes a very good troup can do a lousy show. George Latshaw felt that every artist should be allowed to make mistakes (just not all the time)--it really IS a learning experience if the performer can learn from mistakes. Painters, actors and musicians are allowed to make mistakes, but puppets are not granted the same privilege

Burr Tillstrom said more than once, if he'd known how bad he was in the beginning, he'd have quit. I'm glad he didn't.
